So far in my story, Bud Caldwell is taken in by the Amoses, a family with a son older than Bud. The Amoses' son, Todd, is a big bully. Bud and Todd get in a fight and when Mrs. Amose comes in the room, Todd acts like Bud beat him up. The Amoses believe everything Todd tells them, so they make Bud sleep in the shed. In the shed, the Amoses have fish-heads guarding the door. Bud sees a huge "vampire bat" on the ceiling. He whacks it with a rake, and it turns out to be a hornet nest. The hornets swarm out, attacking Bud. Bud manages to escape the shed through a window. He goes to the library and sleeps under a tree. In the morning, Bud wakes up and hurries to get to the Mission, where he can eat for free. When he gets there, the line is closed. Bud argues with the man watching the line, and another man comes up and grabs Bud, saying that Bud is his son. Bud and his pretend family eat at the Mission, and Bud leaves again. Bud goes to the library to ask Miss Hill something, but he finds out that Miss Hill moved to Chicago. He plans to try to walk to Chicago, and looks at a road map book. Bud walks to Flint, where he meets a girl named Deza Malone. He and Deza become good friends, but Bud has to leave so he can catch the train to Chicago. Bud runs into his old friend, Bugs. Bugs makes it on the train, but Bud doesn't. Bud tuns to try to catch up to the train, and runs out of energy. He decides that there's no way to get to Chicago now. Bud's mother is dead, and he doesn't know his father. But he does know that his father, Herman E. Calloway, is a famous musician in Grand Rapids, so Bud decides to walk there. Once Bud gets far away from Flint, a man stops him on the side of the road and asks him what he's doing. Bud says he's running away from Grand Rapids, and the man says he was going there the next day. He asks if Bud is hungry. Bud says he is. The man, who is called Lefty Lewis, brings Bud to his car and gives him some food. In the car, Lefty Lewis has a box of human blood. Bud thinks he's a vampire and tries to escape. Lefty Lewis explains that he's donating the blood to a hospital. In the morning, Lefty Lewis takes Bud to Grand Rapids, and drops him off where his dad is. Herman E. Calloway doesn't believe that Bud is his son. Jimmy, one man in the band, introduces Bud to everybody else. The band invite Bud to come to The Sweet Pea resteraunt with them, and Bud says yes. So far, many exciting things have happened, and I can't wait to read more!

I think my book is O.K. so far. I can't really say that I don't like it, or that I really like it. I guess I just like it. The story can be exciting at some parts, like when Bud escapes from the Amoses, but it can drag, like when Bud walks to Flint. Sometimes it's just normal, like when Bud's trying to get to the breakfast line.

Next, I think Bud might be able to convince Herman E. Calloway that he's Bud's dad because Bud is good at convincing people, and it seems to me like Herman E. Calloway might believe Bud a little bit.
